CVS: Cannabidiol Very Soon

Hemp-derived topicals are coming to a corner pharmacy near you.

Pretty soon, when you drop in to your local CVS to pick up cotton balls, milk, gummy vitamins and a subpar birthday card for your Aunt Karen, you’ll be able to walk out with a jar of CBD salve to help soothe your aching muscles and joints. The pharmacy announced that it will be selling CBD products—creams, sprays, roll-ons and lotions—in seven states, including California.

Local manufacturers, however, are unfazed, as CVS would only be carrying topicals that are legal nationally, and none would include products containing THC, which many of their clients prefer. As more and more people turn to CBD to help manage pain and combat anxiety, don’t be surprised if you see more and more mainstream retailers start to carry cannabidiol products…and that’s a good thing.
